Betty G Mackie - A philanthropist who volunteered to Literacy Council

In order to add value to a person’s life, literacy skills are much required to include the ability to understand, interpret and find meanings in words and language. Sadly, having the literacy skills is a privilege rather than the basic right that it should be. You just cannot deny the fact that literacy gives people the edge when it comes to succeeding in life. Thus, by improving the literacy skills, the lives of various people can be improved for something better. Just have a look -

Awareness of health
Literacy skills will help people better understand the health concerns and educate them. Those who are literate and have an access to education will better understand the health risks associated with various diseases.

Better economic growth
Literacy skills improve the skills of the workforce, thus reducing poverty and eventually growth in economy.

Thus, literacy is one of the most important skills when it comes to personal growth, culture, and development. Without literacy, uneducated adults struggle to reach their full potential as individuals, parents, and employees.

Aimed at providing adults, children, and families with the required literacy skills, Literacy Council is a non-profit organization that empowers people to achieve. The programs here include one on one tutoring, English as a Second Language classes, computer classes and ready to learn. All these programs are offered at no cost.

Volunteering for literacy council, Betty G Mackie always focuses at teaching the basic reading, writing and English language skills. She believes that literacy enables an individual to take advantage of a new world. Apart from Literacy Council, she also supports March of Dime and Susan G. Komen, a breast cancer foundation.

Talking about her professional career, Betty G Mackie is a prominent and well-recognized technical writer who has been working for the B and D Technical Writing Company, since 2000. At the company, she writes about the products and services on company’s brochures, newspaper articles, product manuals and several grant writings. Much to your astonishment, Betty has also been involved in many home renovation projects. She has designed and overseen five home renovation projects.

Pertaining to her education credentials, Betty G Mackie has attended North Carolina State University and is a UNC Charlotte graduate in English literature. Later, to pursue her degree in Liberal Arts, she went to East Tennessee State University (ETSU). She is also associated with Susan G. Komen, which is a Breast Cancer Foundation.

During her free time, she likes to read books and novels, go for swimming, and ride bikes. She occasionally goes for walk in the mountains and the beaches. She likes listening to classical music, going for ballet shows and car shows.
